League of Legends World Championship viewership has gone up again, the Grand Finals series between SK Telecom T1 and Samsung Galaxy had 43 million unique viewers. A pretty amazing number.
Riot recently published an infographic that compared this year’s viewership with last year’s. This year, the fans watched 370 million hours of the tournament, compared to 360 last year. And 43 million unique viewers during the Grand Finals, up from 36 million in 2015.
However, the gap is not a big as it was between 2014 and 2015. An incredible stat, though, it that the prize pool reached 6.7 million dollars (2.1 million dollars last year) thanks to a contribution by the fans and team icon purchases.
eSports, in general, is looking healthy, every big eSports game has seen an increase in viewership numbers. Let’s hope for an awesome 2017 with more viewers than ever before.
