Day 8 Action

I think this group has gone under the radar to a degree. There was a huge focus on Group C as being the group of death, but Group D is turning out to be a heavily stacked group. Currently, there are three teams holding 2-1 records and at this point, anyone could find themselves in one of the final two playoff spots. With each team facing one another for one last time, prepare yourselves for an intense day of League of Legends.

Ahq e-Sports Club vs. Invictus Gaming

Arguably, Invictus couldn’t have asked for a better way to start the day. They face off against the 0-3 Ahq e-Sports Club who will be eliminated with a defeat in this match. With Invictus tied a 2-1 alongside Liquid and DAMWON, who they play later in the day, this game is a perfect way to get things clicking and secure a win.

Prediction: Invictus cruise to an easy victory

Team Liquid vs. DAMWON Gaming

Coming into Worlds, this was the matchup that would ultimately decide who comes out in 2nd place in this group. However, whoever wins here will be set up with the potential to finish the group in 1st place. With an upcoming and younger team facing off against the North American giant that tend to struggle on the International Stage, this could be interesting.

Prediction: Liquid have already found success against DAMWON, this one will be closer, but Liquid comes out on top.

Team Liquid vs. Ahq e-Sports Club

Liquid will be coming straight out of their match against DAMWON to this match, which could be a huge positive or negative depending on the previous outcome. It may sound surprising but I think this series could make or break Liquid’s run at Worlds. If they come into it after a win, they will cruise and secure another. On the flipside, if they come in after a loss I could see them stumbling more and losing.

Prediction: Liquid wins here and start the day with two wins.

DAMWON vs. Invictus Gaming

This is another big matchup that’s taking place on the final day of the group stage. Depending on previous results, this game could confirm at least one team that progresses through to playoffs. However, it’s hard to say as everything will be up in the air throughout the day. All we can do is recommend you follow all the action to stay on top of the potential outcomes.

Prediction: Last time DAMWON surprised everyone with a win over Invictus, well, they do it again here.

DAMWON vs. Ahq e-Sports Club

Coming off the back of their match against Invictus, DAMWON has their final game of the group stage. At this point, Ahq will be eliminated from the tournament contention and just playing for respect points if you will. Despite being an easier game, it’s vital DAMWON win here to put themselves in the best position possible for the playoff scenarios.

Prediction: A fairly one-sided game here results in a DAMWON victory.

Invictus Gaming vs. Team Liquid

The final game of the day is once again a crucial one that can have a vast impact on how things play out in Group D. There is a potential of this being a 1st place tiebreaker, 2nd place tiebreaker or a straight-up elimination game. If there’s any game you don’t want to miss tomorrow, this is it.

Prediction: Invictus end the day on a high with a win and complicate the playoff picture.
