It is going to be an extremely tense week for those in the LCS. With final matches of the regular season taking place this weekend, multiple teams are still fighting for playoff spots. There are 8 teams fighting for playoff spots, some of which are already locked in and just hoping to gain a better seeding.
There has been a great back and forth story so far in 2019 for the battle at the top of the NA LCS. Liquid look set to finish the regular season and head into playoffs with the #1 seed. It would take upsets from both TSM and EchoFox in their games against Liquid to give CLG or Cloud9 the chance to sneak into the #1 seed.
On the other side of the table, 100 Thieves and Clutch Gaming are in a heated battle. They are tied for 7th and need to win-out their remaining games to have a chance of sneaking into the top 6 and making it to playoffs.
The mid-table consists of TSM, OpTic Gaming and Golden Guardians. All of these teams have looked shaky in this split and are at risk of losing their playoff positions. Whilst there’s an insane number of variables for how each team can advance, there are some important match-ups this weekend.
Matches to keep an eye on
Firstly, on Saturday, 100 Thieves and Clutch Gaming face off. A loss here for either team will essentially end their playoff hopes. Clutch Gaming have an incredible record against teams outside the top 4 so the odds could very well be in their favour. Saying that though, 100 Thieves have been on the rise in recent weeks and look primed to be a Darkhorse. This is a match you don’t want to miss.
Meanwhile on Sunday, Clutch Gaming finding themselves in yet another vital match. They are facing off against Golden Guardians, and regardless of how their match against 100 Thieves goes, this game influences the outcome for playoffs.
Honestly, I just highly recommend watching every single match taking place in the LCS this weekend. The storylines are looking great and the casters and analysts will help to break now every potential playoff scenario for the fans and viewers.
