Team Liquid extend their lead

Everyone knows about the success Liquid have had since the NA LCS franchised. They have won every single split so far and are hoping to make it four out of four. For the first six weeks of action, there was a proper fight going on for top spot in the league.

Liquid, Cloud9, TSM and CLG had all been tightly contested up until Week 7, but things fell apart for most this past weekend. This allowed Liquid to take a slightly bigger lead at top of the table. Liquid managed to pull off a 2-0 weekend whilst the others all finished 1-1.

100 Thieves a Darkhorse?

Who could have seen this coming? After a disastrous Spring Split, and an incredibly poor start to Summer, 100 Thieves are now becoming a favourite to reach playoffs. Many analysts and viewers are now referring to them as the Darkhorse of the Summer Split.

They had an 0-4 record to kick things and managed to get their first win in Week 3, finishing the week with a 1-5 record. Since then they have manged to climb back to a 6-8 record after making a couple of roster changes.

This past weekend they went 1-1, suffering a defeat to Cloud9 but bouncing back against FlyQuest. This has now left them tied with Clutch Gaming and Golden Guardians in 6th place, which would be the final playoff spot. They plat both teams in the final two weeks of the regular season.

CLG vs. Cloud9?

Cloud9 were expected to be in this position coming into the Split, after tying in first place in the regular season in Spring. On the flip side, CLG failed to reach playoffs. The two are currently tied in 2nd place with 9-5 records.

This past weekend CLG pulled out the win over Cloud9 to tie things up. TSM and OpTic Gaming are right behind them with 8-6 records. This is lining up to be a proper battle for the 2nd seed and bye in playoffs.

Conclusion

The end of this split could be one of the best we have witnessed. With so many teams chasing playoff spots and top two spot still up for grabs, we still have no idea how playoffs will look. Liquid have locked themselves in for playoffs but will now be fighting to hold onto top spot and go in with the #1 seed.
